We take a group walking tour, stopping at restaurants, bars & some fun surprises! Menus are curated by the chefs from each stop, offering a full meal and a taste of their best offerings with no hassle to you. Explore a new neighborhood and find a local favorite with friends!

We had a FABULOUS group for our first crawl of 2017! The Spring Swing on Magazine explored some of my favorite neighborhood restaurants, walking distance from my house- Red Dog Diner, Basin Seafood & Spirits, Dat Dog and Arana Taqueria for Taco Tuesday. Red Dog kicked us off during Happy Hour with tasty cocktails then served up duck waffles: roasted duck, duck crackling, cilantro vinegar slaw, 5-spice maple syrup along with their killer Deviled Eggs and homemade pickles. For the first time, there was a Bon Moment cocktail ticket, so it was accompanied by That B*tch Katrina- their fresh juice Hurricane. Mmmmmmmmmm. Our next stop was Basin, which is my fave spot for oyster happy hour. From the team behind Baru, Basin does modern versions of NOLA classics, with an emphasis on fresh local seafood and treated us to fluffy Crab & Crawfish Beignets and perfectly crisp Boudin Balls. For my favorite courtyard, we hit Dat Dog next, my spot for trivia, friendly staff and simple, amazing dogs and sausages. They shook up some Hemmingway Daiquiris to accompany alligator sausage with andouille sauce while we enjoyed their laid-back courtyard. We finished the night at Arana Taqueria and Cantina to celebrate Taco Tuesday with Al Pastor and Baja Fish, beer-battered and fried with creamy jalapeño sauce and pickled slaw. Cocktailers could wash it down with a House Margarita, but they also have a wide and well-curated array of Reposado, Añejo and Blanco for tequila fans. Thanks to our birthday and two anniversaries for spending their special night with us! I had a BLAST getting to know, and reconnect with, everybody who came out!

Bon Moment's inaugural event was a cultural tour of the revitalized Oretha Castle Haley Boulevard! We began the night with a quick bite from the vendors at Roux Carre. Linda Pompa from the Merchants and Business Association gave us a brief history of the street as we headed over to Ashe Cultural Arts Center. At Ashe, we laughed and learned with Bookoo Rueda, who introduced us to the beautiful chaos of Casino Rueda, a group dance from Cuba. Next, we had a surprise stop at Pelican Bomb gallery. The unassuming storefront space brings work from international artists to New Orleans and maintains a designated area for local artists. Next, we were treated to a private tour of the collection of culinary print in the John & Bonnie Boyd Hospitality & Culinary Library while sipping a Bananas Foster-inspired cocktail. Across the street, we visited the Southern Food and Beverage Musem's absinthe collection and had a sneak peek at the upcoming Tujague's exhibit. We capped off the night with dinner at the beautiful new Dryades Public Market and unwound with an authentic, fresh-made Hurricane while we explored its three floors. Everyone who came along experienced a new side to O.C. Haley Blvd. and our generous hosts made some enthusiastic new fans!
Oretha Castle Haley Boulevard is a New Orleans cultural district, made famous in the years leading up to the Civil Rights movement. Having been barred from other venues in the city, black musicians, including legends such as Buddy Bolden and Professor Longhair, set up shop along the Central City thoroughfare. Currently, it is experiencing a resurgence, both cultrually and commercially. Bon Moment is excited to bring our guests on a tour of all the wonderful treasures the street offers.

Guests braved the August heat to experience the best that this tiny section of St. Claude has to offer! We began our Crawl at Kebab, where Walker, the owner, set out a generous spread of all the specialties Kebab makes from scratch- bread baked fresh, homemade hummmus, pickled beets, kebab sandwiches made with Louisiana pork. Seriously, if you haven't made it there yet to eat, just look for the birght yellow building, get a side of their delicious fries, and thank us later! Kebab also houses pinball machines on loan from the Mystic Krewe of Silver Ball and rotating art on the walls, so we had a little pinball rivalry kick up. Our second stop was the neighborhood dive bar favorite, Siberia, where we were treated to Black Magic Rum cocktails concocted by our friend Jen O. It was a prefect refresher for the hot day, a mid-evening cocktail to loosen up and catch up- Bon Moment is lucky to have such awesome guests who enjoy getting to know each other along our crawl! Siberia hosts a variety of comedy, live music, trivia and burlesque almost every night of th e week, as well as some SERIOUSLY tasty Slavic food.
Next, it was time to refuel and get to know some of the up and coming chefs operating out of St. Roch Market! Vendors offered a set menu for crawlers to choose from- Dirty Dishes, La Mezcla, Elysian Seafood, T2, Fete au Fete, Fritai, Good Bird and NOLA Juice opened their kitchens to us to get a taste of St. Roch, along with a drink from Mayhaw, in a lovely setting with weekly Tuesday night live music.
With full bellies, and a little tipsy, we strolled over to the Healing Center, where we met Sallie Ann Glassman, who runs the Island of Salvation Botanica. She welcomed us into her shop and gave a brief history of her conversion and experience in Haitian Voudon. A beautiful shop, the artwork pours out into all parts of the Healing Center and guests grabbed a nightcap from Jen O in the foyer while they explored. Our final stop of the Crawl was a show at Cafe Istanbul, a performance space inside the Center. Chuck the owner is a warm and greeting presence in this multi-use space- you can catch everything from a poetry slam, bands, NPR's The Moth, dance, game nights, interdisciplinary theater- you name it- it's a great resource to neighborhood artists and art lovers of all ages. Tonight, we were thrilled and enthralled by the Fly Movement Salon- a variety show of some of the city's top arialists and circus arts performers in a comfortable, casual setting. Organizer Liza Rose runs the Fly Circus Space, which offers classes for adults and youth and puts together the monthly show at Cafe Istanbul. Be sure to catch the next one because it REALLY wowed us with graceful trapeze, partner tumbling, silks and rope routines.
